As all fans are wondering about the famous hiatus that the Armenian-American band system of a down took in 2006, many began to doubt that System of a Down may never re-unite again. Are these just rumors or is this truly the end of the famous S.O.A.D?

System of a Down took an official hiatus in 2006 after releasing their latest albums “Mezmerize” (May 2005) and “Hypnotize” (November 2005). Right after the hiatus, system of a down’s vocalist Serj Tankian released his solo album titled “Elect the dead” in October 2007 while Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan pursued their career with their new band “Scars on Broadway”. Meanwhile, S.O.A.D’s bassist Shavo Odadjian started working with Wu-Tang Clan on a project named “Achozen”. The careers pursued by System of a Down’s members made each fan wonder about the band’s breakup…

Beno, System of a Down’s manager says that the band is in fact on a hiatus but he mentions that “The four guys support each others new projects 100%”. Meanwhile Daron has warned the fans that S.O.A.D may never re-unite. He tells MTV.com “There’s no talk of System doing anything. We’re not planning on doing anything. If anyone’s holding their breath for a System record, they’re going to turn blue and pass out. It’s a long way away, if it ever even happens. We don’t even talk about it - none of us. This (Scars on Broadway) is my band right now.”

After the disappointment caused by Daron’s interview Shavo gave the fans some hope about system’s re-uniting. Shavo told Launch Radio Networks that System of a Down is “alive and well”. He says: “We’re just not working together right now. We kind of like split up at first, but you know, we’re brothers, man, we’ll take bullets for each other. So it’s like, you kind of miss each other after a while and you, one guy makes the first move, then another starts making phone calls….this is a juggernaut, man. System of a Down is my lifeline. It’ll never go away. We could not make a record for 10 years — that’s not going to happen, but I’m just saying we could — and we’ll come back strong.”

And lately, there’s an uncertain rumor that Serj replied to a reporter that S.O.A.D is on “permanent hiatus” he also said that he is very entertained by all the rumors about how the band will be getting back together or going on tour or breaking up forever.

Last but not least, Scars on Broadway’s bassist Dominic Cifarelli mentioned in an interview with his fans that Scars on Broadway won’t be performing any more albums, he says: “It’s pretty much over. I have not heard a peep and I am very deep into the process of the next Chronicles incarnation”. Scars on Broadway’s early breakup could be a step toward the re-uniting of S.O.A.D.

Is this the end of the famous System of a Down? Or is the band going to re-unite? A question mark is all that remains when it comes to the band’s career and future…
