Friday 13th 2012 saw two album releases in the Lebanese Metal scene, the first of which was Blaakyum’s “Lord Of The Night” album, their debut album released 16 years since their first live appearance.

We headed to Blaakyum’s album release event at “Sins” pub in Gemayze – Beirut, and the pub was full of  fans waiting to hear the work of one of the oldest and still active Lebanese bands, as well as getting the album signed by the band members and hearing what they had to say about the “making of”.

At around 8 PM, the place was already full and at 9:30 PM, the band ran a 40-minute documentary on a screen next to the bar. The 2-parts documentary showcased Blaakyum’s history with footage from their past live concerts, with additional information from their 16 year experience in the scene.

The second part was the album’s ‘making of’ with some hilarious studio moments and an insight to the recording process. The band was signing the album to those who wanted.

For this particular event, we set up a small stand mainly showcasing The Hourglass albums (another Metal band featuring Blaakyum’s vocalist Bassem) and some other local artists’ albums.

On a side note, we found the pub to be a bit overpriced with local beer for 7,700 L.L. and imported beer for 9,900 L.L.

The album is now available at the LebMetal.com merchandise stand at local events which we are covering.
